A conversation with Lynn Emanuel ranges from comic strips and “breaking up” with Italo Calvino to using humor “as a way of getting back at the dominant culture.” Thomas Lynch discusses the “disappearance of corpses in the funeral ceremony,” Dr. Kevorkian, abortion, as well as “love and grief and sex and all that stuff.” The reason that poets aren’t read, Lynch says, “is because we don’t hang any of them anymore.”
